Wednesday update

Oh.  You didn't realize that there was a rhyme and reason to this blog?!  Of course there is!  Today is Wednesday.  The day that you get the huge current adoption status.

It's nothing.

Nothing has changed since last Wednesday.  Nothing except days added to the journey.  Days added to learning patience.  Days added to our little guys days without his family.

Nothing.

Nothing but God holding us in His hands....which is everything.

Nothing but God whispering to us that in His time, we'll bring home our son...which is everything.

Nothing but us learning to lean a little harder on our Savior...which is everything.

So I guess that a lot has happened since last Wednesday.  Just not much with the process in Russia that we know of.

We're hoping that the judge has reviewed our paperwork.

We're hoping that the next time our agency calls it will be to let us know our court date...and not to let us know that the judge is requiring more paperwork.

BUT....we know that if the judge does require more, our God will see us through it.  It may not be pleasant.  It may not be exciting.  But it will be okay.

In the meantime, we'll look at this....

...which is the last picture that we took of our son while in Russia.  I remember standing there choking back tears, hiding the couple strays that trickled out behind the cover of the camera.  Listening to Jason trying to explain to Addie and Will once again why we had to leave him there.  Hard to do when we don't totally understand ourselves.

Just looking at the picture has me choking back tears again.  Mere seconds before, he was in my arms.  Mere seconds before, he was giggling...which rapidly turned to crying cause he was exhausted and we were imposing on his nap time.  Mere seconds before, we were kissing his soft little cheeks and tracing his face with our fingers trying to soak him in enough to last us for the next several months.

And then...here came the caregiver.  She swooped him out of our arms and took him to his room.  And we stood there feeling like a piece of our hearts went to that room with him.

How thankful we are that our son is being so well cared for.  Those ladies who we only know as Jack Nickolay's caregivers are so special to us.  They may never know it, but we love them simply because we know they love our son.  They couldn't help but love him.  He's just that sweet.

Arched-back fits and all.  Though that may not be so sweet here in a couple months.
