Tuesday #2 in Vlad

Here we are. Sitting in our motel room for another day. Good thing the room is decent, I suppose.

Grab a cup of coffee or tea and settle in. This is one exciting post.

Dad and Jason are perched on the couch watching Australian news...the only English channel that we can currently get. It's....interesting....but not interesting enough to watch, in my opinion. Apparently not in theirs either as they are both snoozing.

Today was a very calm, relaxing day. We didn't get out of bed til about 9:00, which was directly related to the late hour that we finally went to bed last night. Addie and Will went to bed on time and slept very well, but the rest of us? We couldn't seem to clear our minds long enough to get tired. When we finally did, we crashed for the night.

This morning we had a delicious meal of meat/potato quiche. Aren't you going to have a much better day now just knowing what we feasted on for breakfast? You're welcome.

After breakfast we did school. School is going very well currently. I guess we just need to take a three week break on occasion and then perhaps the little student will be enthusiastic about learning. She can hardly wait til school time each morning.

School over we did a load of laundry. More exciting news.

Then we got really ambitious and went up to the White Rabbit to play a few rolicking games of pool. We discovered that we have all missed our callings and are seriously contemplating becoming professional pool players. Mom especially. When she hits the cue ball it has a handy little knack of jumping over other balls and totally missing the one she was aiming for. Really. We are that good. In all reality, I shouldn't brag about our skills just yet. We're holding out hope that til we leave here, we can be ranked with the professionals. There's plenty of practice time.

By the end of our many pool games, it was time for supper. Tonights feast consisted of cleaning out the fridge and making conglomeration casserole. Every thing that needed to be eaten went into one pot and it turned out delicious. Macaroni, chicken, and ham topped off with a white gravy. Also on the menu was cucumbers, carrots, and bread.

Aren't you so thankful you're reading this?

Meal times are cozy. All six of us are perched on chairs....well, five on chairs and one on the luggage bench thingy...around a three foot in diameter table. Three have big plates, two have tea cup saucers, and one has a medium sized plate. We have six juice glasses. All that stuff leaves us just enough room to place our one and only three quart pot right in the center with our little bowls of side dishes stuffed in where ever they may fit.

We've decided that we in America are spoiled. Big ole houses, lots of furniture, several different bedrooms, at least two bathrooms. Here? Not so. We all sleep in the same room that we also eat in. Two beds, one couch (Addie's bed), and one floor bed (made with the comforter off Jason & I's bed). One bathroom. One tiny kitchen with the bare necessities. And it's working just fine.

It's truly an experience. One that I hope doesn't drag on for too much longer than we are already planning on.

Dad is finally feeling better. He's been taking Oksana's advice and downing cup after cup of tea. Oregano tea, Echinacea tea, Ginger Root/Lemon/honey tea. But it's working. Just a few days ago he was feverish, could hardly breathe, and slept all the time. Today, he didn't even take a nap. He's on the mend. The rest of us are downing tea right along with him in an effort to keep from getting whatever he had. So far, so good.

In court news. We really know nothing. Additional documents are being completed and only time will tell if the judge/prosecutor will approve them. We're praying. As hard as it is to say, we truly want what God sees as best. Little Jack Nickolay must have great potential with the battle that is going on for him. That's how I've begun to see it all. A great spiritual battle. Satan does not want children to be adopted. Let alone that they be adopted into families who love God. He's working overtime on our case. Praying is all that we can do. We feel so helpless, but we know that "the prayers of a righteous man availeth much".

So many people are praying. This morning when I opened my e-mail, we were blown away by all the messages...all of them stating that they are praying. Forty-six. Some of them from folks that we didn't even know except through the blog world or through common acquaintances. Being a part of the family of God is an amazing thing.

Tomorrow we have to venture out to the grocery again. Should we take the train to the little grocery (Addie says no. She is not interested in missing the train again.) or should we hire a driver to haul us to the big grocery? Who knows. Either way, it'll be nice to get out of the motel for a few hours.

Now that I've wasted all your time for a few minutes, I can let you go. No pictures even today. I'm feeling too lazy to get the camera. After all, it's all the way across the room. Not only that, but the only pictures that we took today are of our awesome pool matches..and most of them are of us laughing uproariously.

They'd be about as exciting as this post.

The peace you have and the ability to see this as a Spiritual battle can only come from the Lord. So very thankful that you are feeling His arms holding you close. Glad you can laugh. And play pool. And do school. We continue to pray around the world for little Jack. See, that 15 hour time difference is a good thing after all!! Blessings to you all today.

Let the peoples praise You, O God, Let all the peoples praise You, Oh, let the nations be glad and sing for joy! Psalm 67:1-4a

Was wondering what we needed to do to get a video of these professional pool games???? Not sure what kind of money we would have to pay to watch professionals but I am sure it would be worth the money or M&M's or whatever it takes! Will you all still camp with us sometime or are you to good for that now? :) So much appreciate your updates and it is so nice to know specific prayer requests! Thank you!
Praying! Sarah

M&M's coming your way. We are praying the package gets to you SOON! May be a little thing - just m&m's - but God cares about even the little things in your life. Hope I addressed everything correctly and it gets where it is supposed to be!
Let me know when it gets there!

Hi, a friend of mine shared your blog address with me, and I've been reading up on your journey. We have one son, adopted from Vlad, 3 years ago, and are in between trips, for our second son, also from Vlad. I usually read in my blog reader, but just decided to pop over here for a second, because I wanted you to know that I'm praying for you. We've had a few (what we thought were major) speed bumps along the way...so on a (much, much) smaller scale, I understand how you're feeling right now. Hang in there, and know that many are praying for your family!!

Hi - thanks muchly for being so faithful to share your days and nites and tears and adventures and most of all your request for specific prayer. You know what a blessing it is to be able to pray along side of you and for you. Have been checking this blog daily for news and the 6 of you are in our thots frequently. I knew that the grandma was a super woman, but just didn't realize what a jack of all trades she is!!! What a fortunate guy that grandpa is to be able to share life with such a one! I'm sending a prayer that chocolate arrives asap - it always helps to have handfuls to sweeten the day (this comment coming from much experience).

We are praing for you and your family and leave it all in the "hands of the One that stills the waters and calms the sea". Has been touching to read and keep up with what you are going thru. Couldn't help but shed tears for the situation you are in, but today, couldn't help bursting with laughter at the description of your mom's pool talent. :) Keep looking up! Love to you from Larry and Melinda (Filbrun)
