Medicals Complete

Whew.  We are tired.  This day has been long.

This morning we were up bright and early, but were all back in bed by 6:30.  By ten o'clock we were all up and at it again.

Breakfast was had at the restaurant by noon and then we took a nice little walk.

It was cold.  Really cold.  Like only 5* cold.  Thankfully it wasn't overly windy or we would have all had frostbite.  We walked to the little convenience store to stock up on a few snacky items....yogurt, crackers, cookies, and juice.

When we came back from our walk the children went down for a nap.  Okay.  I did too.  Jason woke me up about 2:55...just in time to head to Vlad for the dreaded medicals.

However, I wasted a lot of time worrying about the medicals.  It sounded bad.  Eight different doctors.  One big room divided by little partitions.  Not fun.  It wasn't that bad, really.

First off, the building was pretty chilly inside.  That definitely worked in our favor.  The doctors decided that since it was so chilly we didn't have to get undressed for our medical examination.

The first two doctors were the neurologist and the one who took our blood pressure and pulse.  Blood pressure and pulse were fine.  Our brains work properly...which was really good to know.  We both were able to touch our noses, hold our arms straight out in front of us, touch our toes....all with our eyes closed.  Amazing.

The next two doctors were....umm..I don't remember for sure.  Someone came in and peeked at us to make sure that we don't have TB.  The dermatologist came in and asked, "Skin disease, no?"  We answered that we didn't know of any...to which she waved her hands and said...."Good, good.  That will work."

Another doctor poked her head in and asked if we had a high temperature.  Nope.  No temperature.  She then proceeded to poke around a tad on our tummies....checking for infection.

The last two doctors came in and sat down at a table with us.  One was a psychologist and the other was a narcologist.  The psychologist asked us to describe our personalities, what our hobbies are, if we've ever been depressed, and if we've ever been admitted to a hospital for mental illness.  The narcologist asked us if we drink or do drugs.  When we said no, he could hardly believe us and kept asking, "Never, ever, ever?"  He was amazed.

I think the final doctor simply checked out the chest x-rays that we took with us.  We never saw her.

Then we were done.  The whole process took a total of about 15 minutes.  Fifteen minutes and 30,000 rubles.  Wow.

Certainly wasn't worth worrying about.  Granted, if we had had to disrobe, the tone of this may have been a little different.  It would have been a tad bit uncomfortable.

We got back to our motel about five and headed down to eat supper.  Lots of supper.  Some that we didn't even order.  Sometimes the language barrier is  a real nuisance.

Now?  Dad and Jason are checking the news.  Mom is showering.  The children are arguing about who needs the truck and who doesn't.  I think it's bedtime.

Speaking of bedtime.  It's not overly fun dealing with a fifteen hour time change.  Instead of just getting ready to crawl out of bed for the day, we're getting ready to crawl into bed for the night.  We all feel like our eyes are sandpaper and our heads would fall right off if not connected with a neck.  We should get switched around on our time just in time to head home and do it all over again!!!

By the way.  We found out today that our court is at 4:00PM next Monday....the 17th.  That would be one o'clock in the morning at home...Monday morning.  Now that the medical is over, we can start studying for court......

Thanks for all your prayers the past few days.  We know that prayers and faith are the two things that keep us going while we're here.

Blessings to you all~

We both had to chuckle at todays events. I did worry about you and the 8 doctor exam. It didn't enter my mind to pray for a cold room. God's ways are so grand. Prayers and blessings are floating your way. ~Stephanie
