Thursday in Vlad

Another day is gone.  Tomorrow one whole week of our four weeks away from home will be done.  Only three to go.

Do-si-do-ing in an effort to get/stay warm
We enjoy being here...but there's just nothing quite like being home.  A nice, soft bed.  A clothes dryer that drys clothes in less time than three hours.  Enough bowls, plates, cups, silverware and pans that we can fix and eat a meal without having to do dishes in between the fixing and eating.  I forget how spoiled I am until I am somewhere that has the bare necessities.

Riding his pretend horse
Today was a slow day.  Dragged out of bed about 8:30, ate a delicious egg casserole with toast for breakfast (compliments of our in-room cook), lounged for a while, went to the playground for the children for a while (approximately 15 minutes as it was far too cold to stay out for long), played a game of take one, fixed a nice pot of chicken-potato soup for supper, and now are hanging out doing not too much of anything.

Waking up after his nap
Our phone just rang.  I hadn't even missed that sound.  Guess that is one perk of being away from home for a month...no ringing phone...though an e-mail or two (or even a quick comment on here) with some news would be nice (hint hint).

Swinging away
Anyway. It was the front desk letting us know that we could leave our luggage in our room for the next couple days when we head off to Nakhodka.  We will only be gone til Sunday so don't need to lug all our bags with us.  They had told us earlier that we could stow our stuff in a spare room, but decided that they likely wouldn't need our room anyway.  That made things easier.  We don't even need to pack things up.

Even Grandma goes down curly slides!!!
Tomorrow we will be leaving the Vlad Inn at 8:00 to set off on the three hour drive to Nakhodka.  Tomorrow afternoon we should see lil Jack Nickolay for the first time in four months.  We can hardly wait!!!  Saturday we will have two visits with him, and Sunday we will have one in the morning before heading back to Vlad in the afternoon.

And so does Grandpa!!
We'll 'play court' Sunday afternoon with Oksana and will go for the real deal Monday afternoon at four.

As of right now, we will leave to pick up our little fella Monday right after court and come back to Vlad yet that evening.  That part all depends on whether or not the baby home director allows us to have him with us during the ten day waiting period.

Taking our frozen selves back to our room.
It should be a fun couple of days coming right up!!!

Thanks for all of the pics! It looks c-c-c-cold! We missed you & your mom yesterday at the tea. Since I am awake, I assume you are sleeping so hopefully it is soundly. Still praying! Blessings! Melanie

Well....your updates make my days seem rather boring! You think you have nothing going on there but what an exciting venture to play in the freezing cold and take train rides and miss your train!!!! Shall I tell you about my laundry day that has now turned into three laundry days! :) I am afraid I would bore you to death for sure! Thanks for your updates and looking forward to pics of little Jack!
Love and prayers,
Sarah

Jody, most of us will never know what it's like to go down a curly slide in Russia(or anywhere else?!) Really appreciate the updates and pics. The tea yesterday was really nice, yummy food and lots of laughs. We missed you and your Mom. It's a winter wonderland here, not as cold as Russia, but always more snow flaking around it seems. Keeping all in our prayers, Becky

Love to read your posts, Jody! Especially when I'm really supposed to be doing taxes! Praying all continues to go well for you, that you stay warm, that you don't miss any more trains, and most of all that you will soon be loving on little Jack! Praying - Karen

y'all are super troopers!
being snowed in is cozy and charming at home, but i can imagine it being a little less charming so far away from the familiar, especially with energetic small people. ;)
what a wonderful opportunity to be able to connect with your children's birthcountry tho. i wish we could've stayed longer on our trip to pick up yosi. amusingly, the climate there was exactly opposite what you are experiencing, and we were relieved to be home into the cooler spring weather.
hoping the next couple of days are smooth sailing! :) God bless.
