Today is the anniversary of the day that we officially became the parents of sweet little Will Roman. Three years.
I can't believe it.
Three years ago when we picked him up from his baby home he looked like this.
Is that not the sweetest little outfit to dress your 21 month old son in? :)
The poor little guy had a severe case of the red dots covering his body, which we later learned was an anti-itch med for scabies. Fun.
Just a couple days after we claimed him from the baby home, we got to experience a doctor visit. It was an experience that we will never forget. Walked in to a building that had a very leaky roof. A doctors office with a leaking ceiling...
Up a flight of steps...
Into the lobby where Oksana somehow managed to get us in front of all the other patients. No appointments there...first come, first served. Except, aparently, in the case of foreigners....
And into the doctors office where she had us remove his pants (which exposed my bad mothering skills quickly..the poor boy was wearing a pink diaper)....
She picked up his shirt, and said, "Yes. He has scabies." Just like that. Except it was in Russian and Oksana had to translate for us. She prescribed a cream that we were to rub on him twice a day and something to put in water to sanitize all our clothes, bedding, toys, etc. every single night for a week. We did it. Except for the bedding and clothes part.
And the scabies lived on.
When we finally got back to the US with our new little guy we went straight to the doctor where we were given a cream to lather on all of us. We used it twice and the scabies were gone.
We prefer the doctor care in the US, I believe.
We knew right up front that our little fella was full of life. Every trash can in the motel room got moved many times each day.
He got stuck between the fridge and the cabinets for who knows what reason...
He showed his enthusiasm for life....
And on rare occasions (while waiting on his food) he would simply sit and suck his thumbs.
He's grown up.

He's graduated from being the trash man to being the chief mechanic on our farm. Doesn't have the 'putting things back together' down pat, but more than capable of taking things apart. Things such as tricycles being completely dismantled, valve stem caps disappearing.
He's learned to climb to new heights...
He's still getting stuck in tight spots...
He still shows his love for life...
He's our most stubborn child. He's our most strong-willed child. He's the biggest headache....but he's also a huge joy.
When he's not being stubborn or obnoxious, he's a huggy, kissy, lap-sitting child. He's young enough to be scared of bugs and still thinks mommy is really tough when she gets rid of the bugs in his life.
He's an awesome little boy!! Just the right mix of 'all boy' and 'soft teddy bear'.
He's becoming a wonderful big brother...
which is something that we highly doubted would ever happen there for a few months. Jack is learning lots. ;)
We love you, Will. We love every little thing about you and thank God every day that He chose to bring you to our family.
Live for Jesus!!
